Statement

The Ariake Sea
is Expanding Further

During Japan's isolation, this region served as the only passageway for foreign technology and culture. The remnants of this history are alive today in art and crafts, and something new is about to emerge.

We want to focus on this potential, discovering the charms of Kyushu that remain unknown to the world and to ourselves, and sharing these new values widely.

When considering the vast oceans of our planet, the Ariake Sea seems just a small, narrow area. However, this uniqueness has nurtured a rich culture and preserved nature. We hope the ONE Ariake Art Festival will inspire new discoveries and creativity for everyone.

Concept

Ariake Region’s Traveling Art Project

The ONE Ariake Art Festival is a traveling art project in the Ariake region.

Through nature conservation activities in the Ariake Sea and creative activities by children and people with disabilities, we aim to rediscover the region’s charm and challenges, connecting the importance of living with Ariake’s rich culture and nature to the future.

The theme is “Diversification of Regional Resources.”

By combining art, crafts, sports, food, sake, tea, and other cultural elements cultivated over a long time in the Ariake region, we aim to create new experiences, objects, and values.
