HAGAKURE, famous for the line "The way of the samurai is found in death," is a book focused on death, embodying freedom and passion. Yukio Mishima kept it close until his last days, deeply enamored with it.
This project seeks to revive the vast samurai spirit of "HAGAKURE" today, exploring the mindset of samurai in tumultuous times by revisiting Mishima’s literary and philosophical autobiography, "Introduction to HAGAKURE," and connecting it to modern artists' lives.
By aligning the teachings of "HAGAKURE" with contemporary life, the project will showcase collaborative exhibitions featuring works from modern artists and craftspeople that resonate with each other.
