Saga Castle History Museum
20th Anniversary of the Saga Castle History Museum In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Saga Castle History Museum, the museum will hold a special exhibition themed around the ceremonies, rituals, and annual events of the Saga Domain. The event aims to exhibit various historical materials related to these traditions, with a focus on “Connections.” During the exhibition period, special anniversary events will also be held.

Special Exhibition: Zipangu – Contemporary Artists Who Defined the Heisei Era Featuring works by artists such as Manabu Ikeda, Takashi Murakami, Makoto Aida, and Yayoi Kusama, this exhibition introduces contemporary Japanese art that surged through the Heisei era and into the Reiwa era and beyond.
Exhibition of Famous Swords (I) The Yutoku Inari Shrine’s collection of famous swords is on display, including 11 pieces mainly from the successive Chikugo clan. With various features of Hizen swords like beautiful fittings, small grain patterns, unique hat shapes, and blade carvings, there is much to see.
Originally built in the Meiji era as the office of Seiryoku Brewery Co., Ltd., the Western-style building was opened to the public as the Seiryoku Art Museum of Okawa City in 2001.
Located within the Nationally Designated Scenic Spot “Tachibana Clan Garden,” the museum exhibits art and crafts passed down through the Tachibana family, who governed Yanagawa during the Edo period. It features seasonal exhibits of armor from the first lord, Muneshige Tachibana, tea utensils, Noh tools, and paintings, allowing visitors to experience daimyo culture.
Location: Within the grounds of Hozen Shrine (in case of rain, at Mai Pia) Miyama City, Takata Town, Kitashinkai, Hozen Shrine It is said to have begun in 1716 as a Noh dedication by the first Yanagawa domain lord Tachibana Akimasa, to fulfill a prayer.

Two mining train engines, No. 12 and No. 18, are exhibited here. The No. 12 engine is operated six times a day on the second and fourth Sundays of every month. Visitors can also explore the preserved brick buildings, the entrance used by miners to travel underground, and the machine room with its large machinery.

Goldfish Museum (within Goldfish and Carp Park) Reservations are required in advance. Reservation Period: 9/24 – 10/11 Experience traditional cultural workshops, such as Oda pottery, Kurume fans, wooden monkeys, and Yamagata lanterns. Goldfish and Carp Park Festival Various events, including a goldfish sale, will be held as part of Nagasu Town’s traditional goldfish industry. On 10/20, a goldfish show will be held.

A towering wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, standing at approximately 10 meters, is one of the largest of its kind. Sculptor Eiji Oyamatsu dedicated 40 years to carving this statue as a memorial to the victims of the Shimabara-Amakusa Rebellion.
